Create Web Page for the Fisheries and the
Environment (FATE) Program

Current Status of Accomplishment or Milestone: Completed.

Background: The goal of the FATE program is to assist in resource and ecosystem management in the face of changing ocean climate. The program is a cooperative program over various of the regions in NMFS. The focus of FATE is on the development and evaluation of leading ecological indicators and fishery performance indicators, their application to practical fishery management problems, and an ongoing need to publicize the program and communicate its activities within the FATE community, to fisheries scientists and resource managers, and to the public.

Purpose of Activity/Goal of Project: To develop a web page that on one level provides information on FATE to the public, as well as a second level where FATE scientists can exchange information. This web page will be the primary organ for informing these communities about FATE progress and activities, and for posting the environmental status of fisheries' habitat through the leading indicators. Information on the page will be updated regularly, thereby providing current information to NOAA Fisheries stock analysts, managers, and the public.

Description of Accomplishment and Significant Results: A web page that achieves the purposes and goals stated above has been completed and can soon be accessed at http://www.pfeg.noaa.gov .
.

Significance of Accomplishment (e.g., to the Center, to Management, and to NMFS Strategic plan Goals): As the central nexus for information and data for the FATE project, the web page should assist in better resource and ecosystem management, thus building sustainable fisheries, and in assessing the effects of climate change on these resources.

Problems: None.
